A Belated Da Vinci Code Review

Not by me. By Dr Ransom at Faith Fusion. It’s actually a review of the story, rather than the anti-Christ writings therein, which makes for a change.

I thought this quote was fantastic.

Brown spends so much of his time repeating the phrase “sacred feminine,” “sacred feminine” as if a religious mantra — which, of course, it is. It’s almost enough to make me want to head right out and punch a girl just for spite.

Read the review.

RodeoClown: unlikely to bother (with the book, not the review).

My two cents:
Cent One:
I read “Demons & Angels”, his preceding book, and then “The Da Vinci Code” straight after. I am normally extremely good at remembering plots and quotes, but I can’t tell you which events or which characters appear in which book because one is almost literally a search-and-replace of the other. To be honest, I found D&A slightly interesting, but probably only because I read it first. I found TDC a struggle to finish.

Cent Two:
A lot of people go on about how readable Da Vinci Code is and how “I couldn’t put it down”. A good friend of mine pointed out that this is because all the Chapter headings are in the wrong place - they are one paragraph later than they should have been. Hence, by the time you get to the end of the chapter, you’ve actually started the next chapter. It’s a nest trick, but shows that Mr Brown either doesn’t really understand the meaning of “Chapter” or (more likely) that he feels he needs to trick his readers into continuing to read his book (which is probably true, but that doesn’t absolve him).
