It's about to drop even more... I wasn't driving. I was riding in the back of a big truck on top of the product that he was transporting, like the locals do, in the dark, so I couldn't see. I was with another crazy American. In my defense, I had never seen the road before. I was visiting said crazy American friend. It was actually a rather profound experience. I was aware that it was the "most dangerous road in the world". I worried about it for a while, but then prayed for God's protection and decided to put my faith in Him (and the driver's experience) and put worrying aside. We were visiting the Christian camp owned by our partner church organization located in that valley called "The Yungas". Uh oh, is your opinion of my intelligence dropping? I have been on that #1 dangerous road in Bolivia. The answer to your question is that that road is the only route to get from the villages in the valley below to La Paz.
